Model 149 - "Trainmaster" Men's Wristwatch

The telegraph is clicking away from the next train station over regarding the delay of the southbound freight. The 15:15 passenger train is about to leave the terminal but not before the late running 15:06 freight comes within yard limits off the main line. After the 15:15 leaves late, no doubt, they must turnout on a siding in Ridgway to meet the northbound passenger train at 17:35. This is an era of steam railroads in the old west and no cell phones, radio or centralized track control has been invented yet. In order to avoid catastrophe every train movement depends on getting to it’s next meet point at exactly the right time and it all depends on you! When it comes to keeping precision time based on the station’s master clock, your watch is as good as it gets to keeping the railroad, and essentially the world, running smoothly.

This watch, the Model 149, is dedicated to the many years I’ve personally spent in steam locomotive operations aboard the Santa Fe 3751. That is why I decided to call this luxury wrist watch, The Trainmaster. In the railroad industry, where there is no more important factor involved than time, the only single companion a railroad worker can have along the way is his trustworthy, comfortable, well-balanced, striking wrist watch. A luxury watch like the Trainmaster adds a much-needed relaxed look to a hectic day yet it still portrays class and style as it peeks out the cuff of the wearer.

This classic style watch is powered by a large ETA 6498 movement with nearly fifty hours of reserve power just on one winding. This is a well-built, fully-serviced and calibrated mechanical movement for only the best performance as well as one of the most attractive mechanical movements we use. This gorgeous movement has 17 jewels which provide the smoothest bearing surfaces to the most critical components with tolerances as down to a hundredth of a millimeter.

Housing the movement is a stunning 42mm diameter brass case. This gorgeous case has not only a scratch-proof mineral glass crystal protecting the dial but another on the exhibition back revealing the meticulous workmanship that went into the ETA 6498 movement.

The dial is a beautifully silvered brass dial making a minimal impact whilst making a maximum appeal. It’s adorned with separate-faceted numbers and hands along with a second’s dial imposed at the six o’clock position.

A gold and silver watch would not be complete without a beautifully crafted genuine brown leather wrist strap with a rose gold alligator deployment clasp. The alligator clasp makes a very easy task of putting the watch on and taking it off with one simple click yet maintaining a strong and confident hold.
